Janet's Star Trek Voyager Site

RENAISSANCE MAN
Episode 170
Part D

On the upper level of Engineering, at gamma locker 5, the Doctor/'Torres' puts spare bioneural gel-packs into the case.

Suddenly Paris appears bearing a covered platter.
Paris: "You left me no choice."

Doctor/'Torres': "Lieutenant."
Paris: "Oh, are we calling each other by our rank now?"
Doctor/'Torres': "Er, you startled me."
Paris: "Oh, sorry. Well, I thought since you didn't have time for lunch under the stars maybe you'd settle for the glow of the warp core."
Doctor/'Torres': "How thoughtful, but I'm not hungry."
Paris: "Well, I'm sure the baby is famished."

He lifts the cover to reveal a plateful of breaded/batter-covered chicken pieces.
Doctor/'Torres', lapsing into Doctor mode: "A pregnant woman shouldn't eat this kind of food! Do you want to give me an arterial occlusion?!"

Paris: "Huh! One drumstick isn't going to kill you. Besides, I won't tell the Doctor if you won't."

Paris moves closer, intent on a romantic moment. The Doctor/'Torres' backs away and brings the cover back down over the platter. "You know, this all looks so delicious. Why don't we save it for a romantic dinner this evening?"
Paris: "Alright. 1900 hours but if you're not there I'm sending Security after you."
Doctor/'Torres': "I'll be there, sweetheart."

Paris: "'Sweetheart'? Well, aren't you getting affectionate in your third trimester?"
He leans closer and closer. The Doctor/'Torres' cannot escape - Paris kisses 'her'!

Paris: "I'll see you later."

After Paris leaves the Doctor/'Torres' closes the case containing the gel-packs.

Chakotay's combadge signals. The Doctor/'Torres' answers it - it is hidden on 'her' sleeve.
Kim, via comms: "Kim to Chakotay. Can you come to Astrometrics?"
Doctor, using Chakotay's voice, via comms: "Harry, I'll be right there. Chakotay out."

USS Voyager in flight.

Astrometrics Lab.
Kim: "The transmission was encoded with a false subspace signal."

Seven: "The signal didn't originate from another vessel. It came from inside Voyager."
Kim: "We traced it to Holodeck 2."

Doctor/'Chakotay': "Do you know who sent it?"
Kim: "I'm on my way to check the access logs."
Doctor/'Chakotay': "I'll go with you."

Holodeck 2.
Kim: "Whoever sent this transmission knew how to cover his tracks. The holodeck logs have been erased."
Doctor/'Chakotay': "Doesn't look like we'll get any answers here."

Kim: "I might be able to find some residual photonic displacement. There we go. I think I can clarify the image with a recursive algorithm. Our alien's a hologram. Question is: who programmed him?"

Doctor/'Chakotay': "Good work, Ensign. I'll take it from here."
Kim: "I'm picking up two holographic signatures. It looks like a second image was imposed over an existing template."

While Kim speaks the Doctor/'Chakotay' backs away and gets out a hidden hypospray. "I'll see if I can isolate the first image."

Just as Kim stares at the image of the Doctor, the Doctor/'Chakotay' injects him.

.....and Kim collapses.

The Doctor/'Chakotay' takes Kim's combadge and stores his body in the morgue.

The Doctor is beginning to feel desperate as the bodies mount up.

The stolen combadges are also mounting up. The Doctor is back in his office and he stores the stolen combadges together. His look of desperation is still there.

The Doctor puts on the Strauss waltz 'The Blue Danube'.

Zet and Nar are watching and listening, and they see the Doctor adjust the player controls.
Zet: "Doctor, what are you doing?!"
Doctor: "If you don't mind, I've had a stressful day."

Tuvok enters. The Doctor turns off the music and pretends to be busy working.

Doctor: "I'm extremely busy, Commander."

With Tuvok's arrival, Janeway pays particular interest.

Tuvok: "This will only take a moment. I've been viewing the communication logs. There's a discrepancy I was hoping you could explain. At the precise moment the Flyer transmitted a deflector pulse you apparently accessed Voyager's holographic database."
Doctor: "I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about."

Tuvok: "Your access code was used to download the Captain's physical parameters."

Doctor: "Exactly what are you insinuating, Commander?"

Tuvok: "Perhaps we should have a word with the Captain."
Doctor: "Fine."
While talking the Doctor goes over to the hypospray vial-loader unit. Tuvok follows. Turning his back to try and hide what he is doing the Doctor loads a hypospray.

He goes to inject Tuvok but Tuvok is too quick for him. Tuvok knocks the hypospray out of his hand.

Tuvok draws his phaser.
Tuvok: "Computer, deactivate the EMH."
Computer: "EMH protocols are offline."
Tuvok taps his combadge. "Security to Sickbay." To the Doctor: "Remain where you are."

Doctor: "You haven't forgotten I'm a hologram, have you?"

Tuvok fires at a holo-emitter....

....which explodes in flame.

The Doctor fritzes as his program is damaged.
Tuvok: "If necessary, I'll disable all of your holo-emitters."

In Sickbay, the Doctor flees Tuvok: he leaps through the window of his office, slaps on the mobile emitter and orders the computer to download his program into the mobile emitter. As it does so he races out of Sickbay, escaping through the lab door.

The Doctor leaps through his office window.

Doctor: "Computer, transfer the EMH to the mobile emitter!" As the computer does so, he puts the emitter on his arm and.....

.....races towards the lab door and out.

As the Doctor escapes, Tuvok broadcasts to the ship via combadge: "All hands, red alert. Security teams, apprehend the Doctor."
