Yerid and Seven are in the hospital, with Seven apparently unconscious on a patient's trolley. Yerid: "I had to sedate her. She wouldn't come voluntarily." Kadan: "Her condition's obviously worsened. I'll treat her."

Yerid: "There are some other patients I'd like to interview." He shows Kadan a Quarren 'PADD' with a list of names.

Kadan looks at the list. "These people can't be disturbed."

Yerid points a gun at Kadan.

Kadan starts to make a run for it but Seven sits up and grabs his arm. She tells him firmly: "I suggest you comply."

Meanwhile, Janeway and Jaffen break the security lock on the Supervisor's office at the power plant.

Janeway enters the office. Jaffen: "Be careful."

He leaves to stand guard. Janeway can see him through the window of the Supervisor's office. He nods that it is "all clear" and she access the console to send a signal to the starship Voyager.

Neelix: "We're being hailed." Doctor: "On screen." Although the signal is not totally clear, Janeway's confused features can be seen on the main viewscreen. Janeway: "Starship Voyager?" Kim: "Captain?" Janeway: "Why don't you just call me Kathryn." Kim: "Yes, ma'am. Where's Commander Chakotay?" Janeway: "Hospitalised. He told me you had proof of who some of us really are."

Torres steps into range of the viewscreen, startling Janeway. "We do." Janeway: "You're the woman who was abducted."

Torres: "Chakotay was supposed to deactivate the shield grid so we can transport you and the others to safety. If you could find a way to shut down main power the shield grid will go down too." Kim: "Will you help us?" Suddenly Voyager is attacked - Coyote's ambush! Doctor: "We're under attack. Three ships." Kim calls to Janeway: "Please! Shut down the shield-!"

Voyager is being damaged by the attack. Kim: "So much for evading their sensors."

Doctor: "The only way they could've found us is if they knew exactly where to look!" Torres: "Transporters are offline!"

At the power plant, Janeway's unauthorised presence in the Supervisor's office has triggered an intruder alarm, possibly caused by the authorities detecting her transmission to Voyager. She notices that Jaffen is no longer at his sentry post. She goes to find him, calling his name. Suddenly the Supervisor appears, accompanied by security guards. They race toward her.

She turns and goes the other way on the gantry, only to find another guard there, coming her way. They shout, "Don't move!" She is trapped!

Or is she? She can see the control console on the lower level which would shut off main power.

She climbs over the railing and drops to the floor, and the guard firing at her misses.

As she rolls over, temporarily winded, a guard there comes up to her, pointing a weapon at her: "Stay where you are!"

But Jaffen appears suddenly and disables the guard. Together he and Janeway rush for cover as security guards open fire on them.

Jaffen fires at and fells a guard as he races down the stairs toward them.

Immediately Jaffen turns and exchanges weapons fire with enemies on the gantry above them. He hits the Supervisor but the guard with him manages to fire back. The guard narrowly misses Jaffen and Janeway but hits a console which explodes.

Jaffen: "I hope you didn't think I'd abandoned you." Janeway: "Never occurred to me. We need to shut down the main generators."

Meanwhile, at the Quarren capital's power plant, ordinary employees are being evacuated as security guards hunt for Janeway and Jaffen, who have hidden themselves, crouching close by a main computer console. Jaffen: "We'll never get to the generator controls." Janeway: "Maybe we don't have to." Jaffen: "What are you doing?" Janeway: "If I can make the computer think the core's going to overload, the main power should automatically shut down." She starts pressing buttons.

At the hospital, Seven, Yerid and Kadan enter the treatment ward where Chakotay and Tuvok are. Yerid's gun is pointing at Kadan's back. Yerid orders Kadan, indicating the staff there: "Ask them to give us some privacy." Kadan: "You're dismissed."

The staff leave. One of the patients is Chakotay.

Yerid: "Disconnect them. Seven discovers another patient she knows. "Dr Ravoc!" So now the tv viewer knows Ravoc's decision - he refused to join Kadan's evil scheme and Kadan was going to silence him by altering his memory. Seven demands of Kadan: "Why is this man here?"

Kadan: "Dysphoria syndrome." But everyone knows it is a lie, and Kadan realises that his grand conspiracy is at an end.

Coyote's ships inflict heavy damage on Voyager. Neelix mans the Ops station.

Doctor: "We're losing shields!" Kim: "Any advice from your tactical database?" Doctor: "Nothing relevant."

Kim: "How many escape pods do we have left?" Torres: "Five." Kim: "Stand by to eject three of them." Doctor: "I don't think abandoning ship is the answer!"

Kim: "Neither do I. Can you create a dampening field around the Briefing Room that'll mask our lifesigns?" Doctor: "I believe so. Why?" Kim, echoing the Doctor's words from an earlier maneuver: "Watch and learn."

Voyager ejects three escape pods. Each of Coyote's ships lock a tractor beam onto one.

Coyote signals the Doctor who, as the Emergency Command Hologram, is in the captain's chair. "Your crew has abandoned you again. I suggest you surrender your vessel." Coyote's ships lock on tractor beams onto them and pull the escape pods towards them.

Doctor: "You should realise by now that I'm not programmed to do that." He activates the self-destruct systems in the escape pods.

The resulting explosions disable Coyote's ships.

Torres, Kim and Neelix emerge from the Briefing Room. Doctor: "Bravo, Ensign." As the crew take up their posts again, Kim calls: "B'Elanna, I need those transporters!"
