"Your BROTHER!"

Aboard the Lokirrim vessel where the Doctor (in Seven) is working in the medical bay.
Jaryn tells him about her home and parents.
Jaryn: "I've never been away this long before." As they examine the patient who was treated with the viral inhibitor, Jaryn is impressed: "His progress is remarkable. I want you to know I'm going to tell my supreriors everything you've done for us."
Doctor (in Seven): "First Ranek and now you. I may become the first prisoner-of-war to be decorated by his captors."
Jaryn: "I know someone who'd really enjoy meeting you."
Doctor (in Seven): "Who?"
Jaryn: "My brother, Logan."
Doctor (in Seven): "Your BROTHER!"
Jaryn: "You'd like him. He's ambitious, accomplished and he'd love your sense of humour."
Doctor (in Seven): "Apparently it's my most attractive quality."

Ranek signals Seven: "Seven of Nine, please report to the Bridge."

When the Doctor (in Seven) enters the Bridge he finds no one there by Ranek who, unknown to him, has just been checking his appearance.
Doctor (in Seven): "Let me guess, your crew decided to abandon ship."
Ranek: "I wanted to thank you. I had a wonderful time the other night."
Doctor (in Seven): "It's not often that I indulge myself like that."
Ranek: "Oh it's been a long time for me too. I remembered your interest in stellar phenomenon so I requested a course change to show you something."

As Ranek operates the controls, the Doctor (in Seven) leans forward and observes closely, noting the command sequence.
Doctor (in Seven): "What is it?"
Ranek: "To an astronomer it's simply a pulsar cluster, but our poets call it the Window of Dreams. You can travel from one end of the Quadrant to another and never see anything like it."
Doctor (in Seven): "Lovely."

Ranek activates another control and a sound is heard: "It's the pulsar's EM fields, vibrating against our hull. I once thought this was the most beautiful sight in the Sector." Meaningfully, "I see now that I was wrong." but the object of his romantic interest does not understand. "Oh I almost forgot." When Ranek produces two glasses the Doctor (in Seven) brushes them aside, not reading the signs.
Doctor (in Seven): "Oh I promised a friend I'd go easy on the synthehol."
He turns his attention back to the sound of the EM fields. "Do you hear that? It's identical to the rhythm produced by the eight-chambered Ktarean heart."

Ranek, as the other looks at him oddly: "Something wrong?"
Doctor (in Seven), quickly scanning Ranek with a medical device: "Rapid pulse, respiratory distress. You may be having a reaction to the pulsar's radiation. We should get you to the medical bay."
Ranek: "Oh I'm not going to the medical bay."
Doctor (in Seven): "You starship captains are all alike. You can stare down the barrel of a phaser cannon but you can't stomach a simple medical exam."
Ranek: "I don't need an exam to know what I'm suffering from."
Suddenly he kisses the Doctor (in Seven) who is appalled and.....

.....shoves him backwards against a console.
Ranek hurries to apologise. "I'm sorry, I thought-"
Doctor (in Seven): "You were wrong."
Ranek: "I didn't mean to offend you. It's just I never met a woman like you before."
Doctor (in Seven): "That's because there are no women like me!" He storms out.

The Doctor (in Seven) storms back to the medical bay.
Jaryn: "Is something wrong?"
Doctor (in Seven): "Ranek summoned me to the Bridge under the pretext of a little stargazing. What he really wanted was to use my face as a tongue-depresser!"
Jaryn: "I'm surprised to hear that."
Doctor (in Seven): "It was completely inappropriate. That kind of behaviour would get a Starfleet captain reassigned to a garbage scow."
Jaryn: "I'm not defending what he did but you have to understand we've been out here a long time. It's difficult to hide your feelings especially when you work closely with someone you're attracted to."

Doctor (in Seven): "You have feelings for him? I've known Lotharios like Ranek. Trust me, you don't want anything to do with him. You need someone who can appreciate your many talents, someone overflowing with intelligence and compassion, someone capable- Ow!"
Jaryn: "It looks like a spasm in your trapezius."
Doctor (in Seven): "I'd no idea it could be so excruciating!"
Jaryn: "This is what happens when you work so long without rest. Our last medic showed me a technique that might help. I'll try it, if you like."

Doctor (in Seven): "Please, anything. Ah. That feels wonderful."
Suddenly the Doctor (in Seven) gets up and backs away.
Jaryn: "Did I hurt you?"
Doctor (in Seven): "No, no, no, no, no."
Jaryn: "Then what's wrong?"
Doctor (in Seven): "There's something you don't know about me, something I have to tell you."

Jaryn: "It's alright. I know."
Doctor (in Seven): "You do? How could you?"

Jaryn: "Your cybernetic implants. Your portable regenerator."
Doctor (in Seven): "You're not going to tell anyone, are you?"
Jaryn: "I would never say anything to the crew, but Ranek knows."
Doctor (in Seven): "He does?"
Jaryn: "Of course. It was apparent the moment we scanned you."
Doctor (in Seven): "I can't believe you didn't say anything."
Jaryn: "It wouldn't have been appropriate. You're part Borg. It's nothing to be ashamed of."

The Doctor (in Seven) is relieved. He had misunderstood and thought they knew he was a photonic hiding inside Seven's body. His secret is still safe.

Signal over comms: "Security to medical bay."
Jaryn: "This is Lieutenant Jaryn."
Security: "The prisoner is ill. He's requesting treatment by his crewmate."

Seven: "You became sexually aroused in my body!"

The Doctor (in Seven) arrives back in the detention cell to find Kim on the floor groaning loudly.
Doctor (in Seven): "Ensign."
Kim stops groaning and moves to get up. "Where the hell have you been? I had to fake a seizure before the guard would let me see you."
Doctor (in Seven): "Calm down. Seven and I have been making progress."
They download the Doctor from Seven's cybernetic systems into his mobile emitter.
Kim: "Did you get a look at their computer?"
Seven: "During the one brief moment when the Doctor wasn't indulging himself."
Doctor: "I think I've shown considerable restraint under the circumstances."
Seven: "Kissing Ranek on the Bridge - is that your idea of restraint?"
Kim: "Kissing?"
Doctor: "Not that it's any of your business but if if you must know, Ranek kissed me."
Seven: "And the massage you got from Lieutenant Jaryn?"
Doctor: "Entirely therapeutic."
Seven: "You became sexually aroused in my body!"
Doctor: "When did it become a crime to enjoy a sensation or two? Of course, you'd be the last person to understand that."
Seven: "What do you mean?"
Doctor: "The whole world is full of experiences and sensations but you insist on denying yourself. Instead of replicating caviar you choose nutritional supplement 13-alpha."
Seven: "Caviar is an indulgence."
Doctor: "Indulgences are what make life worth living! These last few days have been a revelation. Feeling your lungs fill with air, the surge of adrenalin through your veins. Until I spent a day in your skin I never knew what I was missing."
Seven: "You may have been better off not knowing."
Doctor: "We're quite a pair. Me, trapped by the limitations of photons and forcefields, you by a drone's obsession with efficiency. You'd make an excellent hologram."
Kim: "Alright, listen, you can argue all you want when we get back to Voyager. But that's not going to happen unless we come up with a plan. Did you learn anything about their comm. system?"
Seven: "It can only be accessed from the Bridge, but I saw Ranek enter his command codes."
Kim: "If we can get those codes to Voyager they may be able to disable the shields and beam us out."
Doctor: "How are we going to do that?"
Seven: "The subspace transceiver on the Flyer."
Kim: "Can you get aboard?"
Seven: "It's heavily guarded."
Doctor: "I can get us aboard."
