EPISODE 153    EPISODE 153EPISODE 153EPISODE 153

The Doctor (in Seven) is taken to the Delta Flyer, which is in the Lokirrim ship's docking bay.
A Lokirrim crewmember shows the Doctor (in Seven) in to the aft section where Captain Ranek is examining it. "The prisoner, sir," says the crewmember, and leaves.
Ranek: "Pulse-phased weapons, duranium-enforced hull.... Much more sophisticated than the typical smugglers' vessel."
Doctor (in Seven): "How many ways do you want me to say this: we are not smugglers or terrorists, we are explorers. Let us contact our ship. Our Captain will explain everything."
Ranek: "If you're innocent then you won't mind telling me more about this vessel. For instance, erm," he points to an object in the corner, "this device, what does it do?"
Doctor (in Seven): "That's a standard food replicator."
Ranek: "Can it be used to created bio-weapons?"
Doctor (in Seven): "Not unless you count Mr Neelix's Bolian soufflé. Let me show you. Computer, one slice of New York cheesecake." The computer duly replicates it.
The Doctor (in Seven) holds out the plate to Ranek. "This is an old Earth delicacy."
Ranek: "How do I know you're not trying to poison me?"
Doctor (in Seven): "Oh, please." He takes a forkful and is surprised by how delicious it is. "Mmmmmm. Mmmmmm! Mmmmmm!! Oh, I never imagined! Mmmmmm!"
Ranek, surprised: "Is this the first time you've tried that?"

The Doctor (in Seven) pretends: "'Course not, it's just that I usually avoid foods that are this rich. I do have a figure to maintain. Oh, I'd better get another for you. Computer, another slice of cheesecake." He gives Ranek the untouched slice. "Er, here."
Ranek too finds the cheesecake delicious.
Ranek: "What other foods can that device create?"
The Doctor (in Seven)'s expression shows that here is an idea!
Later, the remains of the feast.
There is much laughter and tipsy merriment.
Doctor (in Seven): ".....During my time with the Collective we assimilated thousands of cultures from one end of the galaxy to theother. I'll say this for the Borg, we certainly do travel! Of course my life didn't truly begin until I came aboard Voyager and met the person who changed my life, the only one who truly believed in me, saw my true potential."
Ranek: "Your Captain!"
Doctor (in Seven): "Our Doctor! That's right, the photonic. If only you could've known him, ruggedly handsome, a sharp wit, towering intellect. If he and I hadn't been colleagues.... Now we'll never know what heights he could've reached."
Ranek: "I hope you understand, I had no choice."
Doctor (in Seven): "Oh just following orders. I've heard that before. "
Ranek: "Maybe there's something I could do for you. Er, I'll speak to my superiors, ask for leniency."
Doctor (in Seven): "If I survive that long."
Ranek: "What do you mean?"
Doctor (in Seven): "My cybernetic components are already depolarising. I need my regeneration device. As you can see, my motor functions are already impaired."
Thoughtfully Ranek takes out the mobile emitter from his inside jacket pocket.
Ranek: "If I give this back to you, will you do something for me?"
