In the aft section of the Delta Flyer, the Doctor beams aboard a sample from a comet. He begins to scan it when the ship jolts. He signals the pilot: "Ensign Kim, please try and hold us steady. This material is extremely fragile."
Kim: "Sorry, Doc, I'm doing the best I can."
Doctor: "Maybe I should've insisted on a more experienced pilot, like Mr Paris."

Kim in an aside to Seven: "Oh I'd give anything to trade places with him right now."
Doctor: "Seven, can you join me please."
Seven: "On my way."
Kim: "I'm not sure if I can take three more days of chasing comets with him."
Seven: "Time might pass more easily if we disable his vocal processor."

Seven enters the aft section.
Doctor: "I thought you might find this interesting."
Seven: "Pre-animate biomatter."
Doctor: "Look deeper."
Seven: "An undeveloped nucleus contained in a cytoplasmic matrix."
Doctor: "And buried deep inside that nucleus, primitive strands of DNA - the beginnings of life, Seven."

Seven: "What's your point?"
Doctor: "When I look at this I don't see a mere cell, I see the potential for literature and art, empires and kingdoms."
Seven: "Perhaps your visual subroutines are malfunctioning."
Doctor: "Some day this cytoplasmic matrix may fall into the primordial sea of a distant world where it could ignite an evolutionary process. Aeons from now, a creature not unlike you could emerge, look up at the skies and ask, 'Who am I? How did I come to be?' It's the miracle of creation, Seven. How can that not excite you?" There is another jolt and the Doctor signals Kim: "Ensign Kim, I asked you to hold us steady."
Kim: "We're under attack!"

The ship which attacks the Delta Flyer, which we learn later is a Lokirrim patrol ship.

Kim to the attacking vessel: "This is the Federation ship Delta Flyer. We're on a peaceful mission, hold your fire."
Lokirrim captain (whose name we learn later is Ranek): "You're transporting a suspected photonic insurgent through Lokirrim space. Drop your shields, prepare to be boarded."
Kim: "Photonic insurgent? If you're referring to the hologram, he's our doctor." The communication is cut off as the Delta Flyer is hit again by Lokirrim weapons fire. Kim signals the aft section: "Seven, we've lost thrusters!"
Seven: "I'll try re-initialising the driver coils."
Kim tries to signal Voyager for help: "Voyager, this is the Flyer. Mayday. Come in."
Computer: "Subspace communications are offline."
As the ship jolts again, Seven identifies the cause: "It's a tractor beam."
Kim: "Remodulate our shields. That should break us free."
Seven: "Shields are down."

The Doctor fritzes. In panic: "What's happening?"
Seven: "They're using some kind of disruption field. It's decompiling your matrix."

Ranek: "Federation vessel, power down your systems and prepare to surrender the photonic."
Kim: "Seven, they're pulling us in. You're going to have to hide the Doctor's program."
The Doctor fritzes again. "Do something, please!" he begs Seven

A Lokirrim boarding party materialises in the forward section of the Delta Flyer. One of them, whom we learn later is called Jaryn, tells Kim: "We don't want to hurt you. We're here for the insurgent."

Ranek and his team enter the Delta Flyer's aft section, bringing Kim with them.
Ranek: "Where's the photonic?"
Seven: "You decompiled his matrix. You murdered him."
Kim: "Seven?"
Seven: "I'm sorry. There wasn't enough time."
Jaryn scans the comet sample.

Jaryn reports the result of her scan to Captain Ranek: "Biogenic material. It could be used to create viral weapons."
Ranek: "Confiscate it."
Seven: "Our Doctor was using these spores to manufacture new medicines, not weapons!"

Ranek sees that Seven is holding something in her hand. "What's this?"
Seven: "It's my portable regeneration unit. This device maintains my cybernetic systems."
Ranek hands it to a member of his crew. "Have this analysed."
Lokirrim crewman: "Yes, sir."
Jaryn: "There's no one else aboard."
Ranek: "Take them to detention and secure their ship in the docking bay."
Kim: "You got what you wanted. Let us go!"
Ranek: "Transporting photonics and manufacturing biogenic weapons are serious charges."
