In Main Engineering, Seven and Torres stride towards the entrance doors. The doors open and Kes enters.
Torres: "Kes?"
Kes does not reply.
Seven, aiming a phaser at her: "State your intentions."
Kes concentrates her mental force and the two are hurled one to each side to clear a path.
Torres, recovering: "Evacuate engineering!"
As the staff obey, Torres and Seven stay. Kes heads purposefully toward the warp core.
Kes ducks under the safety rail surrounding it, then deliberately places her hands on it. Power emanates.
On the Bridge Paris reports: "Warp power is fluctuating."
Torres taps her combadge. She reports via comms: "Torres to Bridge. Kes is in direct contact with the warp core. She's drawing power from it somehow."
Janeway, via comms: "Shut it down."
Torres tries to do so.
Kes becomes aware of her effort...
...and turns and looks at her.
She directs a focussed beam of energy toward Torres who is hurled backwards onto the floor.
Seven rushes over to her and checks her pulse.
Seven watches as Kes vanishes.

Paris: "Warp power is returning to normal."
Janeway, via comms: "B'Elanna, report."
Seven, via comms: "Lieutenant Torres is dead." Paris looks up. "Kes has vanished."
Paris, Janeway and Chakotay are stunned - Torres is dead, and killed by Kes!
Scenes in the present, i.e. year 2376, are shown inthis style. Scenes in the past, early in the year 2371, are shown inthis style.
Kes materialises in Voyager's Main Engineering....in the past, in the year 2371.
No one notices her sudden arrival.
The Kes who correctly belongs to year 2371 (the past) will be denoted as Younger Kes. The Kes who correctly belongs to year 2376 (the present) will be denoted as Older Kes. The notation of Older and Younger is to keep the distinction clear for readers of this transcript.
She changes her appearance....
....to that of the Kes in this time period
Torres is giving orders: "Send Mulchaey, he's in Deflector Control. We'll need more power to Junction 12-J. And tell Harry I want to talk to him about building a new energy grid."
Noticing Younger Kes, she asks: "Lost?"
Older Kes, the only one there who knows that in the future she kills Torres: "No, just looking. Captain Janeway suggested that I get more familiar with the ship."
Torres: "Well, if you have any questions, let me know."
Older Kes: "Thanks."
Torres, as Kes goes to leave: "We're about to run a diagnostic on the warp core assembly. You can watch if you want."
Older Kes: "Thanks, but I really should be getting back to Sickbay."
Older Kes leaves Engineering. Two crewmembers goes past. When she is alone, she says: "Computer, how long has Voyager been in the Delta Quadrant?"
Computer: "Fifty-six days, seventeen hours."
She smiles. All is going to plan.
Older Kes enters Sickbay , takes a hypospray and loads it.
The Doctor sees her from his office and comes up to her: "Back so soon?"
Startled, Older Kes turns, hiding the stolen hypospray behind her back.
Doctor "I thought you went to the Airponics bay to collect herbs."
Older Kes, improvising: "I forgot something."
Doctor: "Pyong Ko."
Kes: "Excuse me?"
Doctor: "You encouraged me to choose a name, remember? Pyong Ko was a 21st century surgeon who discovered the genetic sequence for inhibiting cancer cells - it heralded a new chapter in Earth's medical history."
Older Kes, remembering from her time on Voyager that the Doctor was searching for a name, particularly at this time: "That's a perfect name, Doctor."
Doctor: "Hmm, then again, I'm also considering Schweitzer, Jarvik, Pasteur.... There are so many options, each with its own merits."
Older Kes: "Why don't you give it some more thought? You don't have to decide right away."
Doctor: "Of course, it's not that I require one for reasons of vanity. I'm just a hologram after all, but if I had a name, other than 'Doctor' or 'Hey, you!', it might encourage the crew to treat me with a little more respect."
