MEDICAL LOGS
ENDGAME
Season 7 : Episodes 171 and 172 : Series Finale
MEDICAL REPORT:
Tuvok has been experiencing lapses in concentration and has lower neuropeptide levels. He is suffering from an illness known as fal-tor-voh. The only known cure requires him to mind-meld with another Vulcan, but the other Vulcans on the ship are not compatible, whereas a family member would be the logical choice. Torres goes into false labour several times, which is common among Klingons. Klingon labour sometimes lasts for days. The Doctor informs Seven that medically she is fine, aside from some minor inflammation around her bi-radial clamp and that she should let him know if it starts to bother her. He has been studying Seven's problem whereby her Borg cortical node shuts down when she starts to feel strong emotions; see entry for
[#164 Human Error]. He now has a way to reconfigure the microsurgery in a single procedure. The Borg Queen contacts Seven to try and warn Voyager off entering the nebula; the Doctor afterwards diagnoses that Seven's cortical node was exposed to a low-energy EM surge.
DOCTOR'S LOG:
The Doctor asks Seven out on a date but she diplomatically declines (she is now dating Chakotay and early in this story goes on their third date together, a picnic). The Doctor delivers Torres' and Paris' child - a daughter whom they will call Miral after Torres' mother (her mother's name is noted in
[#123 Barge Of The Dead] and Torres tells her father in
[#166 Author Author] that they are thinking of calling their baby Miral). Little Miral is born just as Voyager reaches home.
DOCTOR'S LOG, ALTERNATIVE FUTURE:
When the Doctor questions Commander Barclay about Admiral Janeway's disappearance, Barclay, who years ago lost his stammer, begins stammering again, convincing the Doctor that there is some plot afoot involving Admiral Janeway. He obtains details and Captain Harry Kim of the USS Rhode Island is sent to apprehend her, though he ends up helping her in her goal of travelling to USS Voyager in the year 2377.
MEDICAL REPORT, ALTERNATIVE FUTURE:
Tuvok, who has the Vulcan degenerative mental illness known as fal-tor-voh. He is visited by Admiral Janeway on Sundays, and the Doctor comes on Wednesdays, whereas Barclay's visits are erratic. When Tuvok becomes particularly agitated, his attending physician calls the Doctor. The Doctor has invented a synaptic transceiver which allows a person to pilot a vessel equipped with a neural interface; Admiral Janeway's shuttle is equipped with one.
MORGUE RECORD, ALTERNATIVE FUTURE:
In 2380 Seven was injured on an away mission. She made it back to Voyager only in time to die in the arms of her husband, Chakotay. He never recovers from the loss and dies not long after Voyager reaches home. Admiral Janeway tells Captain Janeway that from the day when Voyager first enters the Borg nebula encased in anti-Borg armour then retreats on seeing a Borg transwarp hub, she lost 22 crewmembers.
MEDICAL ADMINISTRATION, ALTERNATIVE FUTURE:
In the alternate future depicted in this story, an incoherent and ill Tuvok refers to stardate 53317, which is believed to be the day Janeway was abducted by the Kellidians. It is not mentioned in any other episode. That event would have occurred shortly before this episode. Assuming that Tuvok's recall is correct and the event took place (whether or not he correctly remembers the stardate), presumably the Doctor would have carried out a medical check-up on Janeway after her return to Voyager.
OTHER MEDICAL DATA, ALTERNATIVE FUTURE:
A drug called chronexaline has been tested at Starfleet Medical to determine if it can protect biomatter from tachyon radiation.
DOCTOR'S QUOTE, STORY PART 1:
To Seven: "It's a date! Speaking of dates, once the fail-safe is gone, you'll be free to pursue more intimate relationships. If you decide you need help with that aspect of your humanity, I'm always at your disposal."
DOCTOR'S QUOTE, STORY PART 2:
During labour, when Torres says:" If you tell me 'relax' one more time I'm going rip your holographic head off!" he replies: "I hope you don't intend to kiss your baby with that mouth."
ALTERNATIVE FUTURE DOCTOR'S QUOTE:
To Janeway about his wife Lana: "I can only hope she ages as gracefully as you have. I of course will be the same handsome hologram 20 years from now as I am today."
