MEDICAL REPORT:

The Doctor avoids Voyager being detected by pursuing Quarren patrol ships by hiding the ship in a moon's crater, where repairs are undertaken. The moon has a paramagnetic core which masks its energy signature. The Doctor determines that the memory centres of Torres's brain have been radically altered in a very sophisticated technique capable of selectively manipulating memory engrams through suppression and alteration, while leaving some intact. The same procedure was performed on the rest of the kidnapped crew. Torres is treated for her altered memory, and Neelix follows the Doctor's advice to prompt her recall by showing her the married quarters she shares with Paris and their possessions. It works and before long Torres is back in uniform and on the Bridge. On Quarra, Chakotay finds Janeway who, under the influence of the mind-control supervised by Dr Kadan, does not recognise him and is suspicious of him. Attempting to convince her she is a starship captain with another life, Chakotay uses a dermal regenerator borrowed illicitly by Janeway from the power plan to undo the alterations made to his face, revealing that they are of the same race. At the same time, on board Voyager, Kim and the Doctor annoy each other when they clash over command seniority and Chakotay orders them to work it out. Meanwhile, Quarren investigator Yerid and Kadan's junior colleague Dr Ravoc suspect that the apparent outbreak of a disease known as Dysphoria Syndrome, which occurred under Kadan's watch, is being used as a cover story to explain the procedures performed on the Voyager crew to make them forget their past lives. Eventually the crew is transported back to Voyager and their minds restored, and the Doctor relinquishes his ECH role. During their adventures, the Doctor and Kim are reconciled.

Included in the tactical database of the Emergency Command Hologram is a description of the events of the Battle of Vorkado, in which a Romulan captain disabled two attacking vessels by creating a photonic shockwave between the ships.
