MEDICAL LOGS
REVULSION
Season 4 : Episode 73
MEDICAL PERSONNEL:
The Doctor asks, or instructs, Paris to replace Kes as his assistant in Sickbay. Paris is recruited as he is the most qualified member of crew (he has already sometimes helped out medically in Sickbay and in the field in the past). The Doctor envisages Paris' work in Sickbay will only be temporary, with three duty shifts a week. He is to report to Sickbay the next day at 0600 in order to commence his new role. Neither of them realise at this time that Paris' posting will become permanent, while retaining his main job of conn officer.

Paris, distracted by his first kiss with Torres, is accosted by the Doctor and recruited as his assistant
DOCTOR'S LOG:
Voyager receives an automated distress call sent by Dejaren, an alien HD25 Isomorphic Projection (hologram), who says that his crew is dead and he needs help. The Doctor, anxious to meet a fellow hologram, tracks the source of the transmission and is assigned to the rescue mission along with Torres. Upon their arrival on the disabled ship, they meet Dejaren, who is pleased to see the Doctor who is another "lifeform" like himself.

the Doctor checks Dejaren's program: "Mind if I run a quick diagnostic?"
The hologram says that his crew became infected with a deadly virus, which killed them all. Torres suspects Dejaren's story. As the Doctor talks to Dejaren, he begins to realise that Torres was right - Dejaren is pathologically bitter toward organics.

On the lower deck, Torres finds the bloody bodies of the crew and realises they did not die from a virus but were murdered by Dejaren. As she hurriedly tries to deactivate Dejaren's program, the homicidal hologram appears and nearly kills her before she manages to shut him off. The Doctor reaches her in time to administer basic treatment (see MEDICAL REPORT). Torres finds that Dejaren has disabled their communication link to the shuttlecraft. As they work to restore it, Dejaren reactivates himself and knocks out Torres. He disconnects the Doctor's mobile emitter, causing him to disappear, and steals it for himself seeing it as meaning freedom. Torres awakens and flees, but a murderous Dejaren pursues her. She manages to destabilise his matrix with an isomagnetic conduit, deactivating him for good. She reactivates the Doctor's program, and both return to Voyager.
MEDICAL REPORT:
During the Doctor's absence on the away mission, Paris treats a deep cut on Seven's hand, an injury she sustained during work she and Kim are undertaking to upgrade the Astrometrics Lab (which has not been updated since Voyager left drydock). Seven is unsettled as it is the first time she has to cope with not having Borg regenerative abilities.

Paris also treats two broken bones and a stomach ache (the treatment is not seen on television).
On board the Serosian ship, after Dejaren reaches into Torres' chest she sustains a perforated fourth ventricle and possible internal bleeding, but although the Doctor can stabilise her she needs to be fully treated back on Voyager, which is not an option at that particular moment.

fearing for her safety, the Doctor, with medkit, comes looking for Torres, finds her and treats her injuries
Later Torres receives a head wound, a blow from an engineering tool wielded by the murderous Dejaren. All of Torres' injuries are repaired by the Doctor after they return to Voyager.

The Doctor tidies up the medical equipment he used in treating Torres. Paris is present, being the Doctor's assistant, but also out of concern for Torres
MEDICAL ADMINISTRATION:
Tuvok's file, following his promotion by Janeway to Lieutenant Commander, would be updated.
DOCTOR'S QUOTE:
To Dejaren: "When I was first activated I was regarded as little more than a talking tricorder. I had to ask for the privileges I deserved - the right to be included in crew briefings, the ability to turn my program on and off. It's taken some time, but I believe I've earned the respect of the crew as an equal. I've also been pursuing personal interests - art, literature, music. Perhaps you could do the same."
