MEDICAL REPORT:

Janeway and Chakotay crash in shuttlecraft Sacajawea and she is severely injured. While unconscious she hallucinates several scenarios of her death. One of those scenarios takes place in Sickbay, wherein the Doctor tells Janeway that she has concomitant stress to the thalamus and is in the early stages of the phage, that the injury is known to cause a kind of dementia that results in hallucinations, and the Doctor fills the quarantined surgical bay she is in with neural toxin as a means of committing euthanasia on her; in the hallucination Janeway dies. Later, still unconscious and hallucinating, Janeway sees her dead body in Sickbay with attempts by the Doctor to revive her:

Doctor: "Ten milligrams cordrazine. We'll use it in conjunction with the cortical stimulator. Now."
Janeway's body jolts. Kes reports the instruments' readings: "No pulse nor blood pressure. Minimum electrical activity in the midbrain. No measurable response in the cerebral cortex."
Doctor: Again."
Kes: "Doctor, we're getting a steady pulse."
Doctor: Quickly. 75 milligrams inaprovaline. I'll begin direct synaptic stimulation."
Kes: "Pulse is weakening. We're losing her again."
Doctor: "Cortical stimulator. Now!"
Kes: "No vital signs. No brain activity."

After she "dies", Janeway meets her father and eventually deduces that he is actually an alien who has assumed her father's image. She realises that the scenarios and his appearance are designed to lure her into death. She has moments of brief wakefulness during which she realises that she is on a planet, is injured and the Doctor is trying to revive her. In fact, an alien presence has invaded her cerebral cortex. It tells her that its species comes to help the dying to make the crossing over to their Matrix an occasion of joy, and initially describes the Matrix as a place of wonder, but when Janeway proves unco-operative it informs her that in the Matrix Janeway will nourish the alien for a long, long time. Now that she is aware of it, Janeway fights harder and with the Doctor's medical aid regains consciousness on the planet's surface.

Janeway, with the hallucination of her father with her, glimpses reality i.e. the Doctor trying to revive her

To revive her, in real life, the Doctor first uses cordrazine along with the cortical stimulator followed by synaptic stimulation and ultimately administers a thoron pulse.

Doctor: "I'm no longer detecting the alien presence. Vital signs are responding. Blood pressure 110 over 65."

STAR TREK CONTEXTUAL MEDICAL GLOSSARY:

Cordrazine. Cortical stimulator. Inaprovaline.

HALLUCINATORY DOCTOR'S QUOTE:

To Janeway whom he has diagnosed as having the phage: "The prospects are unpleasant, Captain: you face a lingering, painful death, marked by increasing periods of dementia and eventual insanity. I've come to the conclusion that there's only one humane course of action. Euthanasia. It would be wrong to subject you to such a prolonged and painful death. The crew would also be adversely affected if that were to happen. Klingon DNA might provide a vaccine against the disease but not a cure. I'm sorry, Captain. The space within the forcefield is filling with a neural toxin. It is fast-acting and restful. Please relax and take deep breaths. It will be over more quickly that way."

DOCTOR'S QUOTE:

Of Janeway: "I'm no longer detecting the alien presence. Vital signs are responding. Blood pressure 110 over 65."
