Ensign Bennet is killed in a shuttlecraft crash, and Tuvok takes the body back inside the shuttlecraft where it is preserved within a stasis field for return to Voyager.

Kes has been coaching the Doctor on his diplomatic skills, which he proudly uses on Alcia, the Drayan First Prelate. Unfortunately his skills lack polish and Janeway shows certain displeasure at his attempt to make the Drayans welcome in Sickbay.
